STUDIO UFO CLOSE ENCOUNTER AT SILVER LAKE 2012 Jan 11-13

CLASS DESCRIPTION

We will meet Friday January 11 at approximately 4pm at Silver Lake Chalet.  A map to the house will be sent.  We will settle in our beautiful house on the edge of Silver Lake in the snowy foothills of the magnificent ancient volcano that is Mt. Baker.

All travelers will enjoy a home-cooked, organic meal and later relax in our PJ’s in front of the fire with the beverage of our choice.  This is our time to discuss the Group Of Seven (specifically Lauren Harris & A.Y. Jackson) and their approach to painting snow.

Comfy beds and the silence of the wilderness will enable us to get a truly restful sleep in the woods.

Saturday morning we will wake to a healthy breakfast as we anticipate the one-of-a-kind, all day, plein air workshop inspired by the Group of Seven and guided by instructor Trish Harding.  Trish truly loves to share her knowledge of painting en plein air.

Through demos and easel-to-easel instruction, Trish will share her knowledge and experience of painting snow all the time identifying each artist’s style and encouraging individual voice.

We will break for lunch: another healthy, home-made meal using fresh organic ingredients.

At the end of our painting day in the crisp winter snow we will spend the evening again relaxing & cozying up in front of the fire, taking walks, soaking in the hot tub, snacking, sipping and engaging in “highly intellectual” conversation, (or not).

All meals, snacks, goodies, beverages (including wine & margaritas) will be provided by Studio UFO.  All instruction and personal art assistance is included in the trip fee.  Your only responsibility as a traveler on this CLOSE ENCOUNTER  is to paint, eat, relax and enjoy each other’s company.  Be prepared to be treated like a queen!

THE FIGURE IN PERSPECTIVE WORKSHOP

November 8th, 2012

shroud-of-bagdad.JPG  The Shroud of Baghdad, 18×24″ charcoal, by Trish, sold

Hello Friends In Art!

I have designed a workshop just for those artists who want to “get it right”. If you are interested in the figure in your work, this workshop is certainly a must. A weak figure in a painting kills that painting. If you are not using the figure but would like to hone your drawing skills in general, there is no better vehicle to do that than the figure. This workshop will be just the ticket to help improve your drawing skills through understanding, markers, cues, and perspective. “If you can draw the figure, you can draw anyting.”

We will work with a model at different horizon levels as the artist learns to locate his/her eye level, learns to use vanishing points, and how to see and take advantage of foreshortening; all with respect to the model and all critical to a strong drawing. We will see the line qualitities of length & direction in a powerful way and produce drawings that are correct in perspective and foreshortening AND powerpacked with dynamic gesture, creativity and the artist’s personal voice!

I hope you will join me for this very enlightening workshop…The Figure In Perspective. Come Draw With Me!

The mission of Studio UFO is to help artists to grow in their drawing skills, identify their own personal artistic voice, and to engage them into the art community of Bellingham.

DRAWING WORKSHOP The Figure in Perspective, Trish Harding instructor

One-5 hr session, Monday 11/19, 10am-3pm, $98

It is so important to have the time to practice drawing skills and to take given information, markers& cues farther than just a one session class or workshop.

This workshop is designed to take drawing of the Figure to a whole new level.

Join me in this very informative workshop-The Figure in Perspective-and go away with a deep understanding of the horizon line and vanishing points with respect to the figure.

Be prepared with a minimum of $2 cash tip for the model.

Come Draw With Me!
