- Open Studio Painting, any medium with personal instruction geared to “your project”.
- Join the UFO Group for a relaxed and focused all day painting session.
- Expect spirited presentations and lively critiques.

The People’s Painting
Everyone is welcome to paint on the People’s Painting!
Join with other adult members of the community exercising their freedom of speech to add your strokes to a large canvas outside Studio UFO. Directions:
1. Use only Oil Paint Sticks provided.
2. Use baby wipes provided to clean oil paint from your hands…please use trash can by the mailboxes.
3. Voice your opinion, insight & vision with strokes, dates, numbers, images or allegory.
4. Fill out and Sign the signature sheet.
5. The painting’s progression will be documented regularly by photograph.
6. The signature sheet will accompany the final painting and the photographs for display.

SHAPE

Tuesdays, May 6, 13, 20, 27, 9am-noon, $120
I have designed this class for those artists, beginners as well as advanced, who still need help with their drawing skills. If you want to create strong and powerful images you need to know and understand the cues and markers for drawing. Once that is achieved drawing starts to just flow from an artist and is one of the most pleasurable and satisfying experiences h/she can have.
We will be talking about SHAPE in this class. Many artists do not realize that shape is a whole drawing quality unto itself. Once you understand the concept of shape, learn how to “see” it, and find out the devices that you can utilize to draw it you will totally understand the need for strong shapes and how shapes help set the stage for the power of a finished piece.
Still Life? At the end of this session Still Life will become a great friend of yours as an artist. Many people start out thinking that, “Oh, I don’t like still life…” and end up understanding that still life is like a your pet dog…loyal, sits, stays, and loves you unconditionally. Still Life is a great vehicle to learn SHAPE and to talk about NEGATIVE spaces too!
If you have never taken a class at Studio UFO this is a great class to start with. My classes are jam packed with information You do not come to Studio UFO and sit and draw with no instruction. Be prepared to soak it all up, work hard and create work that you never thought possible. Studio UFO is also a warm and friendly environment and you will meet wonderful, talented, interesting and like-minded people with whom you will feel safe and welcome.
Supplies for this class are a breeze. Bring:
· one 24”x18” rough newsprint pad
· one drawing board
· one “very large” soft vine charcoal (Big Bob’s)
· one package smaller soft vine charcoal
· one soft compressed charcoal
· you can get these supplies at Dakota Art on Cornwall Ave

The People’s Painting
Please come to Studio UFO and add your strokes to The People’s Painting! There are oil sticks for you to add your insight, outrage or feelings of the war in Iraq. There are also baby wipes available to clean up if you need to. The living painting will be photographed weekly to watch it’s transformation. At some significant time, hopefully when we start to bring our troops home from Iraq, the painting will be finished and shown along with the photos. Be sure to read the instructions and sign the signature form so that we can post all the names of the people who have contributed to the voice of sanity during the show. We do not know when this will be yet! This is a community project and any adults are welcome to contribute. See you there!

Event Tonight at Blue Horse Gallery
Tonight, Friday Mar. 28, 7-10pm, Closing Reception for Blue Horse Debut of Trish Harding!
Over 40 new plein air oil paintings ranging in size from 12″x12″ to 3′ x 24′ ! Please join me for this exciting evening and see the newly expanded and remodeled Blue Horse Gallery.
Bellingham’s oldest art gallery, under the same ownership. Blue Horse Gallery represents Trish Harding as well as 25+ other fine artists, from throughout the United States and British Columbia, Canada. Our focus is “regional” artists - but these artist’s work can be found in New York, L.A., Santa Fe and truly in collections and galleries all over the world.
We are very proud of all of the talented and hard working individuals we feature at the Blue Horse Gallery. If there is a theme for the Blue Horse Gallery, it is simply… Fine Art because our mix is quite eclectic. We exhibit abstract art and representational art, oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels and original prints, portraits, landscapes, still-lifes, impressionistic subjects, marine art.
We host the PAPO, NOPE, and “Reaching for the Light” Breast Cancer Awareness Exhibit among others.
